Benchmark Tracker

It's been two years since I wrote my last blog post. I guess my inspiration for this blog died as soon as I published the post.. haha. Funny how that is sometimes.

Anyways, I've been thinking about my benchmark tracker for math this year and it's going to be an "Around the World in 180 Days". I'm going to have a huge map of the world posted on the wall. Students will try to travel to as many countries and continents as they can in 180 days. They all start on North America. I will write their name on a country and they record is in their passport book. They can move to another country within the same continent if they score 80+% on a practice test or a post-test. Students and move to another continent when they score 80+% on the benchmark. Every time they move they write the new country or continent down in their passport.

I'm thinking it either needs to be me writing their name with whiteboard marker or finding a magnetic flag type thing so they can stick on that way. I'm super excited for this tracker and I hope I actually fully utilize it to its fullest capacity.

The students are each going to have their own student data tracker binder with their passport along with their graph and scores for each standard "I can" statement pre and post test.

Sometimes I get inspiration and doesn't pan out. I hope it doesn't happen again. It seems like such a great idea!!

Inspired

Hello!

My name is Angela Khai. I have been so inspired by the blogs created by teachers on the internet who share their passion, ideas, lesson plans to help all children across the country.

Reading so many blogs has inspired me to create my own blog to document and share what I am doing for my students!

Currently, I am a student teacher at the University of California, Irvine in the Multiple Subjects Credential Program. I am placed in a 5th/6th combo magnet school and it has been such a ride! I absolutely love them and will miss them dearly when I am placed at another school in April! =(

As an introduction- that'll be it for today! =D
